Opening Plenary: Dianne Tavenner (Summit Public Schools) and Todd Dickson (Valor Collegiate Academies) join Derwin Sisnett (Maslow Development, Inc) and Nancy Bernardino (Solar Prep) as the “new generation” of school innovators and share what they’re trying, what they’re learning, and what makes them hopeful for the future. School Spotlight: Herron High School Approved to Join Indianapolis Public Schools
Herron High School All too often charter schools are still pitted against traditional schools. Partnerships between the two are still too few and far between. In this environment, we all may be looking to Indianapolis as a model for cross-sector collaboration and support. The IPS board voted to add Herron High School, Coalition member school and one of Indianapolis’ highest performing high schools, to the district portfolio of Innovation Schools. This new partnership expands educational opportunities to more students and through its enrollment priorities, empowers Herron High School to increase geographic, racial and socioeconomic diversity at Herron’s 16th Street campus and create a new diverse population at Riverside, Herron’s newest campus.
