Through the UnifiED School Launch Fellowship DCSC is expanding the diverse-by-design movement by founding new intentionally integrated schools.

In strategically growing our UnifiED School Launch Fellowship for the 21-22 school year, we are excited to announce that cohort four will be our biggest yet this coming fall.

The growth of our School Launch Fellowship is the result of intentional partnerships we’ve created with new communities. While we expand the diverse-by-design movement by growing the number of new schools, what we know to be more important is growing deeper relationships with community – a core value of DCSC.

Hear more from cohort four fellows on DCSC’s core value of community:

Rickkay King, a fellow who will be hosted at City Neighbors in Maryland, is on track to open his school in fall of 2022 and will be the county’s first charter school. When thinking of living out DCSC value of community, Rickkay believes in “sharing these integrative practices with not only our new school’s students and staff, but the community at large…it will be key to ensure we are uplifting the community as a whole and developing real-time communities of practice in our own backyard.”

Hosted by Hebrew Public, Lissette Roman will use her prior experience as a founding school director to plan for the opening of a new diverse-by-design school. Lissette is “incredibly excited to spend a year intentionally designing a school that focuses on diversity and inclusion” and is “looking forward to learning from other leaders already doing this work and building relationships across the cohort.”

Each of the cohort four fellows will be creating schools that are in direct response to a need they see in their community, and as a result will continue to live out this core value of ours. DCSC is proud to grow our community this coming fall with our newest cohort of school launch fellows in founding schools to disrupt the status quo.

We look forward to announcing our full cohort four at the UnifiED Kick Off this fall.
