This session is offered by DCSC member, City Garden Montessori School, for the St. Louis community.
ColorBrave is a series of community intergroup dialogues and educational presentations focused on race and bias and how to be “color brave” rather than “colorblind,” as inspired by the TED Talk “Color blind or color brave?” by Mellody Hobson.
The opening session of the 2019/20 school year explores Intersectionality – a term that has gained popularity, yet the origin of the phrase is widely unknown. We will learn about Intersectionality’s origins as a power analysis, and draw connections to the growing anti-bias & antiracism commitments in the St. Louis community. By the end of the session, participants will have a deeper understanding of Intersectionality, and next steps to applying more thorough “lens” to their commitment to being Colorbrave.
- 5:30 pm Dinner begins
- 6:00 pm Discussion begins
