Event Details

This live virtual event is hosted by the National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Join OECD Director for Education and Skills Andreas Schleicher and NCEE President and CEO Anthony Mackay for a special in-depth look at Volume II of the 2018 Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS), Teachers and School Leaders as Valued Professionals.

TALIS is the largest international survey asking teachers and school leaders about their working conditions and learning environments, covering approximately 260,000 teachers in 15,000 schools across 48 countries and economies. Volume II of the report provides analysis of teachers’ and school leaders’ perceptions of the value of their profession, their work-related well-being and stress, and their satisfaction with their working conditions. It also looks at opportunities to engage in professional tasks such as collaborative teamwork, autonomous decision making, and leadership practices.

During the webinar, Schleicher and Mackay will provide insights from the report for state policy makers, district leaders and educators on a range of topics covered in the report including the strengthening and further professionalization of teaching. They will also share their reflections on how education systems around the globe are reacting to COVID-19, and the long term implications for education and the economy.
