Christina grew up in a first generation household in Southern California where she quickly learned how to navigate opposite, often opposing, worlds at the same time. She was the first in her family to go to college and on the campus of Yale learned and felt the term ‘imposter syndrome’. Since, has spent her career working to ensure secondary students across the US have equitable access to high quality learning and she is passionate about cultivating school environments that allow students and staff to authentically bring their unique genius and fullest selves.
Prior to joining DCSC, Christina was an educator for over 15 years, ranging from military, urban, and suburban settings, ultimately serving on a principal team for a 6-12, intentionally diverse, public charter school in Washington DC. Wanting to make a larger impact, she founded a consulting firm that focused on the intersection of equity and education, and through that work was able to impact thousands of students across the country. To this end, Christina is particularly excited to weave these experiences to advance the strategic priority of distinguishing DCSC’s work and ensuring high quality programming for our coalition.
Christina graduated from Old Dominion University as a double major in English and Secondary Education. Later, she went on to complete a post-graduate fellowship at Yale University. Christina proudly calls Washington DC home, and when not working, she is cooking with her wife and two mini-goldendoodles, Kingston and Koda.
