Mike Pope

Interim Executive Director

Mike has spent his career advancing racial justice and expanding opportunities for young people. His work is grounded in a belief that strong organizations listen to the communities they serve and create meaningful opportunities for those communities to lead. He approaches leadership with a commitment to listening first, sharing power, and taking responsibility for moving difficult work forward.

Before joining DCSC, Mike spent 15 years at Youth Represent, a youth-driven racial justice organization in New York City, including six as Executive Director. He led a growing team, strengthened community partnerships, and helped build a staff and board that reflected the communities the organization served. His experience as a civil rights attorney shaped his commitment to removing barriers to opportunity and ensuring that young people have a voice in decisions affecting their lives.

Mike is a certified Interim Executive Director, trained through the Support Center for Nonprofit Management, and has helped guide nonprofits through leadership transitions. At DCSC, he works alongside the staff, board, and member schools to sustain strong programs and partnerships, make space for reflection, and prepare the organization for its next permanent leader. He is especially drawn to the promise of intentionally diverse schools as places where young people belong, learn across differences, and prepare to help shape their communities.

Mike is based in Brooklyn and is the proud parent of two young children.
