This live virtual event is hosted by The New York City Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), the Mayor’s Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes (OPHC), and the Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit (CAU)
In recent weeks, we’ve seen an increase in COVID-19 related bias incidents and hate crimes. As communities are being urged to report these incidents, we are creating space for people to get firsthand information from the agencies responding to these acts. Panelists will include senior officials from NYPD, CCHR, OPHC, CAU and District Attorney Offices.
This virtual town hall will cover:
- the difference between bias incidents and hate crimes
- agencies to contact for bias incidents and hate crimes
- reporting process
- what happens when a person officially files a complaint or an arrest is made
- Q/As
