Building a Great Performance Assessment Workshop Series

Teachers know that the best assessments not only capture our students’ brilliance but also allows learners to see their progress. In this three-part workshop, you will learn the principles of high-quality assessment and apply them to the design of a task that aligns to your desired outcomes and provides evidence of your students’ learning. By the end of the workshop you will have an assessment that is ready to implement in your classroom.

This workshop series is facilitated by ELP Assessment Design Partner, Soraya Ramos, with ELP Director of STEM, Vinci Daro, providing Math support.

FAQ

Is this a virtual workshop? Yes, this workshop is virtual via Zoom. Zoom info will be sent via email to the registered participants the week of the event. Due to the setup of this workshop series, we ask that each attendee individually login and join us in the Zoom room.

Are the sessions stand alone or do I need to come to all three? Since our sessions are interdependent we do ask that participants attend the entire three-part series. We will offer this session regularly throughout the year and would encourage you to attend in the future.

Who should attend? This is a workshop designed for teachers: any grade level, any discipline. Educators who support teachers will also benefit from practicing the skills they may be coaching teachers on.

What should I bring with me? Participants may bring learning targets or skills that they wish to assess. Participants may also bring an existing task/challenge that they want to improve.

Can I come as an individual, or should I come with a group? Individuals and groups are both welcome. A group can work together to design a single performance assessment that they all plan to implement (for example, a group of science teachers, or a group of 2nd grade teachers). Groups are also welcome to design individual assessments in different subjects. We are offering a special discount price for groups of 4 or more- so grab a few colleagues and join us!
