Engaging Traumatized Students in Your School and Classroom

Often schools are focused on core content and raising academic achievement. However, the pandemic has exposed a void in our practices. Now more schools are addressing the impact of trauma on the student’s ability to learn. Join us to understand what school and classroom practices work to build relationships, engage students, and
support their well-being.

Fellow school practitioners will share the need to be proactive in addressing student trauma, how to redirect students in crisis, and engage families as a resource. The Chief of Well-Being, the CEO, and Principal of Monument Academy Public Charter School will present their therapeutic school and relationship building practices that support the
brain’s ability to feel safe and open to learning and family engagement.

This event is hosted by the Trauma Informed Educators Community of Practice and presented by Monument Academy staff who lead a weekday boarding school with a mission to empower students, particularly those who have experienced significant adversity.
