A Half-day Workshop for State Advocates and Policymakers

Session 1 (1-1:45 pm ET): Pedal to the Metal: How States are (and Should be) Using Federal Funds to Accelerate Learning

Participants will learn how states are planning to use funds to address unfinished instruction; which practices are most promising, especially for underserved students; the resource considerations of different approaches; and where there are still opportunities for advocacy and improvement.

Session 2 (2-2:45 pm ET): Back from the Edge: How to Avoid Funding Cliffs and Look Toward the Funding Future

Participants will consider how the looming federal funding cliff can be avoided, how to diagnose key funding equity challenges, and how short-term funds can be leveraged responsibly and with an eye toward increasing equity over the long term.

Session 3 (3-3:45pm ET): Relief for Whom? Centering Special Populations in Comeback Plans

Participants will hear from issue advocates on using federal relief dollars to support students whose needs must be at the forefront of high-quality plans for the coming school year, including English learners, students with disabilities, and students experiencing homelessness.
