Teaching roles are 10-month positions, which are exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Pre-K 3/4 Associate Teachers at Capital City:

 

Work with an experienced teacher and a class of 18-25 students
Plan and implement daily lessons and curriculum units with a lead teacher
Work with small groups and individual students in all subject areas
Accompany students on fieldwork
Attend weekly professional development sessions
Support the school’s social and academic curriculum
Participate in weekly meetings with your classroom and grade level team
Communicate with parents
Engage in professional development focused on building your capacity as a teacher
Attend summer institute

 

Capital City seeks to employ experienced and credentialed associate teachers.

 

Minimum required qualifications: Associate’s degree or 2 years towards a Bachelor’s Degree, or High School diploma and Paraprofessional certification. Experience working with students and/or children.

 

Spanish speakers are desired.

 

In addition to the above requirements, teachers must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check.

 

 

 

About Our School

Capital City was founded in 2000 and currently serves a diverse population of nearly 1,000 students across PK-12th grade. We have been recognized as a model for social, emotional and academic development. Our program emphasizes a commitment to diversity and equity, a strong inclusion model and the integration of arts into the curriculum.
