Are you an experienced, entrepreneurial education leader, committed to diversity and equity, who is ready to start your dream school? The Nashville Incubator is looking to fund and collaborate with a startup school leader to develop and launch an excellent, intentionally integrated, public charter school in Nashville. We are especially focused on differentiated and unique school models that respond to community interest, such as Montessori, dual-language immersion, science and technology, or career and technical charter schools. A targeted opening for the new school would be in 2023 or 2024.

The ideal school leader is action-oriented with substantial leadership experience in a high-performing school environment and will be responsible for leading strategy, talent recruitment, external relations, fundraising, finance, operations and people management. Current Nashville residents or those with strong ties to Nashville are preferred, but we welcome candidates from any geography.

Funding will be provided for a full-time, fully-compensated fellowship with the Diverse Charter School Coalition (DCSC) beginning in July 2021. The year-long school launch fellowship will consist of a tailored residency as an administrator of a DCSC member school with dedicated time set aside to work on the development of a new diverse-by-design school. The fellowship will provide the school founder with mentorship from a Coalition member school leader, access to experts and resources and extensive exposure to exemplary school models.

In addition, the startup school leader will receive extensive support from local Nashville-based partners and collaborators, including:
● Connections to leading education practitioners in Nashville
● Assistance with board development, facility search and fundraising connections
● Technical assistance with the charter application process
● Assistance integrating into the Nashville community, especially the education community

Nashville has a vibrant, high-performing charter school sector, with approximately a dozen operators overseeing 30+ schools. The City is growing rapidly, with an influx of highly educated young people, strong tourism, noteworthy corporate relocations, and dynamic
music and healthcare industries.
