Role Overview:

Valor Collegiate Academies is seeking a Data and Software Manager who is excited to share our mission of empowering scholars to live inspired and purposeful lives.

The Data and Software Manager reports to the Director of Data & Strategic Analytics performs a vital role in informing Valor’s outcomes and strategy by gathering, organizing, collecting, reporting, and presenting data. This role manages Valor’s software infrastructure, including rostering, technical troubleshooting, and staff training on all edtech platforms. This person works closely with school and network leaders on data projects. The Data & Software Manager also supports staff professional learning on instructional software and data systems, and is responsible for set-up and management of multiple student information systems and applications.

The work for this role is performed in a hybrid school environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances between campuses on-site and own a traffic or school-based duty.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Management & Training (65%)

Serve as the technical expert for all edtech platforms including but not limited to: Illuminate, Kickboard, Aimsweb, Google Admin, GoGuardian, Hapara, IXL, NWEA, Learning Ally, ALEKS.
Maintain accurate rosters and manage those rosters by importing data and creating user accounts in various edtech platforms.
Set up and monitor Clever auto-rostering process.
Respond to data tickets for software requests.
Own all software beginning of year set up, including adjusting settings, creating accounts, importing rosters, and creating Gradebooks.
Provision and deprovision all student and staff edtech accounts.
Lead staff training on software platforms during summer professional learning, and throughout the year as needed.
Troubleshoot any edtech platform challenges, including communicating with external vendors as needed.
Document all software systems for training and sustainability purposes.
School Data Projects (20%)

Support solutions to all school data reporting needs including report cards, transcripts and other reporting needs.
Own middle school scheduling processes, including the creation of documents and training materials for school-based leaders.
Lead communication with school-based teams regarding academic data systems, including report cards, grading systems, and NWEA MAP testing.
Develop timelines and project plans for data projects to support schools.
Software Strategy & Data Leadership (10%)

Develop a sustainable software infrastructure strategy by critically examining our systems and identifying strengths and opportunities for improvement.
Evaluate data systems to identify opportunities for automation and increased efficiency.
Serve as a data leader by holding staff accountable to data systems and norms.
Data Analytics (5%)

Respond to analytics requests from school and network teams as needed.
Lead one-on-one and group training sessions for staff on Google Sheets and data analytics skills.

Own an arrival, midday, and/or dismissal duty to support school-based needs.
Sit on Valor’s Built to Last anchor team and support the vision of the team through exemplary work.
Attend weekly in-person faculty Circles on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00PM
Lean in to support across the network or with school-based teams as needed, under the guidance and direction of this role’s manager
Critical Experiences and Qualifications:

Qualifications & Experiences

A Bachelor’s degree is required
A minimum of 1-2 years of formal data management experience in a comparable role, preferably within a fast-paced education start-up operating environment or a similar position
Advanced knowledge of Excel, or other equivalent software
Advanced knowledge of Google Sheets and Google Drive. Experience with formulas such as INDEX MATCH, COUNTIF, AVERGEIFS, QUERY, etc.
Experience managing data, importing/exporting data, and creating dashboards for data analytics
Experience with instructional technology, and the skillset to train others on the use of technology strongly preferred
